Even though the Fear the Walking Dead series doesn’t have an official premiere date just yet, there’s no doubt that fans won’t have to wait any longer than the summer.

In chatting with Melty, the executive producer of the series, Greg Nicotero explained the difference between the two zombie outbreak series, in saying, “What’s important in the spin-off is how people react to it. It really is a fascinating statement on current society, because we get most of our information from our iPads and our phones. There have been things that have been happening in recent years… When you hear stories like that, about a guy who attacked someone and bit their face off, imagine how we reacted to that news story at the time.”

Also, fans won’t get to see the origins of the outbreak but instead see how society reacts to news stories that inform them of how people are eating people due to the zombie virus. In part, Nicotero explained that the bath salts zombie attacks story in 2012 was an inspiration for this series.

Apart from this, the series will focus on how some of the mistakes made by normal people has grave consequences.

Probably the biggest difference between the Walking Dead series and this one is that while the former is a story of survivors who have lost their families, the latter begins with the families at the beginning of the zombie virus outbreak.

And speaking of more superficial differences, the zombies will also look different from their Southern cousins, given that California is far more drier than Georgia.
