In the aftermath of the Colorado cinema shootings which screened Nolan’s final installment of the Batman trilogy, Christian Bale visited the survivors and the makeshift memorial built for the victims near the place of the attacks.
In a written statement, Bale conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims, in saying, “Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”
Bale, who played Bruce Wayne, in The Dark Knight Rises, thanked the police for their prompt response to the attacks that has the nation in shock. He also spent about two-and-a-half hours at the Medical Center of Aurora visiting the survivors, and also thanked the medical staff for their efforts.
It is noteworthy to mention that Bale wasn’t representing the film studio as his presence in Aurora was requested by fans, and to which, he complied, without hesitation.
The shooting, in question, occurred at the midnight showing of the third and final Batman movie, killing 12 and injuring 58 people. The suspect who committed this crime, in the guise of Batman’s arch-enemy, the Joker, is James Holmes, and will be sentenced to death, if found guilty in court.
Apart from Bale, Nolan, its director, and Hathaway, who played Catwoman also conveyed their condolences while President Obama and the team of the Denver Broncos also visited the hospital to meet the survivors of the shootings.
