As ridiculous as this might seem, the question still remains: Did Beyonce lip-sync at Obama’s inauguration or not?
Despite Obama’s liberal speech, considered to be the first of its kind, it seems as if the only thing that registered on people’s minds were speculations as to whether Beyonce lip-synced the national anthem that she was due to perform, to a recording made prior to the performance with the Marine Band.
While some people did not care, others made a hue and cry about this mini-scandal at such a momentous occasion. As for the answer to the question, Captain Gregory Wolf, Marine Corps spokesman, had this to say, “Regarding Ms. Knowles-Carter’s [Beyoncé] vocal performance, no one in the Marine Band is in a position to assess whether it was live or pre-recorded.”
Yet what fans these flames of speculation is that he did admit that she used a pre-recorded track instead of live accompaniment.
While Beyonce continues to remain silent over the incident, National Public Radio confirmed Captain Gregory’s words in saying that she sang “The Star Spangled Banner” using a pre-recorded track that was made with the Marine Band.
Twitter, on the other hand, where a number of opinions were voiced about her performance from both detractors and fans, and only blew this speculation out of proportion and to the point where a number of people couldn’t resist dropping a few wisecracks.
Yet the final word on this scandal was rather poetic, coming from Anderson Cooper, who put it quite emphatically by saying that this is Beyonce’s world and we are living in it.
