Marvel Studios revealed a lot about their future plans at their San Diego’s Comic-Con panel recently.
Apart from showing footage and bringing out cast members of their next three movies, namely Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy, Joss Whedon also teased the audience with a reveal of the Avengers sequel, Age of Ultron.
With that said, fans were still disappointed as Marvel Studios did not make any announcements related to Phase Three that included yet-to-be-announced movies or at least, offer a preview of Edgar Wright’s Ant Man.
Later, Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios co-President, in speaking with Collider, later confirmed that these announcements would be released only a year from now.
So, the question remains: What do we know about Marvel Studios’ Phase Three?
For starters, there will be a Doctor Strange film, which covers the story of a neurosurgeon who loses his hands and then turns out to be one of the greatest practitioners of magic in the process. This was confirmed by Feige in an interview with MTV’s SplashPage in January this year.
There will be no Iron Man 3 even if Robert Downey Jr. contract with Marvel Studios has become a topic of conversation. The question remains as to whether we will Tony Stark in a standalone flick. And the answer is No, thanks to Iron Man 3 closing this chapter of his story. He will, however, play a large role in ‘Age of Ultron’.
Finally, just with the first two phases, the third phase will end with an assortment of superheroes from the movies that are made before it – but with a difference. The superheroes will differ from the other two phases.
But what’s clear with rumours prevailing about a standalone Black Panther and Hulk movie is that it’s clear that Marvel Studios wants to keep us guessing.
