Famke Janssen lied to reporters for months concerning her role as Jean Grey in the upcoming Marvel flick, “The Wolverine”.
However, when her presence was confirmed in the trailers of the movie, she explained her reasons for doing so, in an interview with Josh Horowitz of MTV News, and said, “I sincerely apologize, but I was sworn to secrecy. The studio called me and said it’s a big secret — and we want to keep it a secret. It was a lot of hurdles to go through but we went through all of them, swimmingly. I was even able to lie to you and many other people, which is terrible, because I’m not a liar.”
Janssen also admits that it was very difficult to keep this a secret for so many months as there was a possibility of her secret being found just by traveling half way around the world to the set of “The Wolverine”. Of course, her intention of lying for all these months was not to spoil the surprise that the movie offers for fans.
In speaking about her comfort levels in playing Jean Grey, Janssen said that she felt very comfortable in doing and also pointed out that she was lucky because she literally played a different character with each X-Men that was revealed.
In this movie, she explores a new dimension of Jean Grey and which involves her attraction to Wolverine. As she puts it, slipping a nightgown and getting into bed with Hugh Jackman feels as if they hadn’t left each other at all – as depicted in the earlier installments of the X-Men movies.
